Sapa is a rural district of Lào Cai Province in the Northeast mountainous region of Vietnam, 350km from Hanoi City. The district covers an area of 681 km2, the population is about 61,000 people of ethnic minorities as: Black H'Mong people, Red Dzao people, Xa Pho, Tay, Zay...etc. The district capital lies at Sa Pa Town, the altitude is around 1500 to 1650 metres above sea level with an average temperature of 14-18°C, cool in summer but a bit cold in winter. Trekking villages in Sapa, to learn more about indigenous culture of ethnic minorities, and people forget everything, just enjoy the fresh air, clouds, sky, romantic & majestic scenery…, that is the reason why Sapa Town is also known as the town in the cloud. Being one of the most attractive tourism destinations of Vietnam, Sapa is a precious gift that Mother Nature dedicates to Vietnam country. Sapa always attracts tourists in all the year.

Highlights: "We have decided to give ourself the authentic experience by taking us on a two day trek in SaPa. It was an amazing experience of us.

Our guide was excellent guide providing insights into the local way of life. She really knows and shares with us a lot of interesting facts about Sapa area and is also perfectly fluent in english.

The hike on day 1, we walked for almost three hours and then had lunch. After lunch, we walked for another 3 hours, seeing some of the amazing locations that Sapa has to offer, including many beautifull rice paddys, roaming buffalos, pigs, chickens, lambs... which is very different what we saw in our country.

The homestay was with a H'mong extended family.  Local people were very welcoming when we stayed overnight at their house,  and they prepared a delicious home cooked meal for us (on the fire - their only source of heating and cooking) followed by rice wine and hornet wine...

There was a pit in the floor where they burned coal to provide minimal heat. There is no insulation in these homes but, plenty of blankets. We were provided private rooms and we all slept comfortably.

Waking up to the roosters' sound, the mist and then the clearing to view the rice fields was breath taking.

The hike on day 2: After a delicious breakfast of banana pancakes..., the trek sesion brought us past villages, through the terraced rice fields and bamboo forrests... with many amazing landscapes in the area. Our guide a young Dzay women, did a wonderful job of not only leading through the rice fields and bamboo forests, but also taught us about the local cultures such as Hmong, Dzay, red Dao cultures… showed us know how they made their traditional costumes and there were also items for sale there but no pressure to buy…

We just finished a homestay trek with Rosanta Travel, it was a definite highlight of our visit to Vietnam. Staying overnight in the villages and eating with the local families added so much to our experiences. I would thoroughly recommend this trek although I would just say that you have to expect local living - not western, luxury guesthouse accomodation. Just be prepared and you will have wonderful experiences!!!"
