Day 1: Bac Ha market (only on Sunday), Day 2: Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van Villages, Day 3: Cat Cat village and Sin Chai village - Lao Cai Train Station for a night train to Hanoi

Day 1: Bac Ha market (only on Sunday)

Pick up at the Lao Cai train station when you arrive (in the morning) and takes you to a restaurant in Lao Cai city for having breakfast. After having breakfast, will depart for Bac Ha market. Coming this market you will have a chance to see the most colorful market of the hill tribes in the North of Vietnam. Bac Ha market which only opens on Sunday weekly. there is at least 8 ethnic groups usualy attending at Bac Ha market, and the market is usualy opened from the morning until 14:00 PM on Sunday.

"Bac Ha market is located about 76 km from the Lao Cai train station or 110 km from Sapa town, Bac Ha is a remote district of Lao Cai province. Bac Ha market which only takes place every Sunday is famous for the originality and authenticity that the traders still preserve. About the market: It is not simply a place for buy and sell but also an opportunity for people from different ethnicities to come and meet, for relatives to reunite after a long time missing, for women to demonstrate their beautiful handmade traditional costumes and even for youngsters to find their dates. To reach the market, many ethnic vendors have to walk a long distance passing mountains and hills. Yet the distance has never discouraged them from joining the Sunday colorful market; Trading Products: The main square where trading takes place is divided into smaller section, specializing in a particular product such as handicrafts, food, horse, poultry and blacksmith...."

In the afternoon we will have a 2 hour soft adventure trek to Ban Pho village of Flower H’Mong people, discover the H’mong King’s palace (old building built by the French & Chinese), enjoy landscapes… Then we drive back to Lao Cai city by late afternoon, and continue up to Sapa town. Having dinner and check in the hotel.

Day 2: Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van Villages

After having breakfast, the trip starts at 9:00AM, transfer along the main road to a beautiful spot where your village trek begins. First start of 6 KM of trekking down to the south east of Sapa along the side of Muong Hoa valley to visit Y Linh Ho Village. On the trekking trails you can enjoy spectacular sceneries of the highest part of Hoang Lien Son mountain range and if in a nice day, the Fansipan Mountain peak can be seen. Crossing a river by a suspension bridge, and walking uphill you will reach to Y Linh Ho Village of the Black H’mong people. Here you will visit to some H'mong families, watching them doing their daily works.

“Y Linh Ho village locates about 6 km southwest of Sapa town, on the west side of Muong Hoa River. Y Linh Ho is a small commune composed by a dozen of small hamlets scattering on the very tough mountain terrain with high and steep mountains. There are some hundred inhabitants from the Black H’mong only living in this commune. They built their rudimentary houses on their farmland and mainly cultivate corn and dry rice on the steep hillsides. The only way to get to the commune is on foot from the main road. The Black Mong who wear very dark clothing in blacks and navy dyed with indigo (often seen on the hands of older Mong women)”.

Then Continue on the trails about 2KM of trekking down hills to reach the Lao Chai Village a beautifull & large village of the H'mong. Lunch at a local family. “Lao Chai village locates about 8 Km southeast of Sapa town on the west bank of Muong Hoa River. Lao Chai is a commune composed by three large villages with over 100 families of the Black H’mong ethnic. From a high point of the main road 8 Km from Sapa town, great view of the whole village open wide to offer the marvelous panorama of the village, backed by high mountains and facing the river. The H’mong people in this village experience rice intensive farming on the lower land near the bottom of the valley as main source of earning while growing corn on the mountain slopes at the back of the village. In this village which you will have a welcome feeling at any house of the hospitable people there. You can interact them, learn about their culture and customs.”

After having lunch, you will continue on the trails up and down the hills, following the river banks, through terraced rice fields... to enjoy the landscape on the way... to reach the Ta Van Village of the Dzay minority people. at here you will visit some local houses, village’s schools... of local ethnic people as well as enjoy breathtaking scenery of the Muong Hoa Valley. It will give you a worth chance so that you can learn about the culture; the architecture; the life styles and the unique customs of them... Then you will get back to Sapa town by the jeep or minivan.

 “Ta Van village locates about 12 Km southeast of Sapa town. Ta Van is a small village set within a picturesque Muong Hoa valley where the Zay and H’mong ethnic people live together. you will have a good chance to traipse around the rice terraces and experience a bit of rural village life of local people”.

Day 3: Cat Cat village and Sin Chai village - Lao Cai Train Station for a night train to Hanoi

After having breakfast, you will walk down to the South-west of Sapa town to visit Cat Cat Village to learn about the life of the Black H’mong people. “Cat Cat is an old village of of the Black H’Mong ethnic people, nestled in a beautiful valley about 3KM from Sapa Town. Cat Cat village attracts tourists from all over the world for its distinctive customs. The original architecture of H’Mong people is interesting as well. Their house typically contains three rooms with three doors and po mu wood roof, while the walls’ material is sawn timber. There are other indispensable parts of the house such as altar, kitchen, place of sleeping; place to keeping food, etc.

Coming the Cat Cat Village there will be the opportunity to look through the houses of the ethnic minorities in the village and discover how people in this area live. You will often see a big family in one household; 10 members more or less and you will be amazed at how they share in it. As you go down the village you will walk past a lot of stalls with colorful and beautiful handicrafts "This is a shopping Mecca". And you will have opportunity to try the local delicacy, try the home-made apple wine with just 10,000 VND (50cents), you’d have a glass of fine traditionally made wine. Chances are-you can no longer find them anywhere else as soon as you have left the village. So while you are in the area, taste their food to remember the experience; Take the photos of the splendidly picturesque view of the hills and the terraced rice fields, and the stunning Cat Cat Waterfall...”

Having lunch at a local family. in the afternoon, you will trek 3KM to Sin Chai village, the village located at the foot of Fansipan Mountain, “the roof of Vietnam and Indochina”. “Sin Chai is a pristine village of the Red Dao ethnic people, whose women wear beautifully embroidered clothes with distinctive silver jewelry and an enormous red turban. Sin Chai is also a community village. Here the locals will take the time to teach the way to weaving the material / cloth and the way to dye the material / cloth by the local plants / vegetation. There are also a lot of wonderful scenery inside this pristine village”. Coming there you can enjoy huge stunning landscapes before walking up on the way to return to Sapa by the minibus. Having dinner at a restaurant.

At 17:30PM The Mini-Bus and the guide will pick-up and take you to the Lao Cai Station (30KM) for the Overnight Train to back to Hanoi, if you want to return by the train. The Overnight Train will be departed @21:40PM from Lao Cai Train Station)
